Career Exploration

Career exploration opportunities are authentic learning experiences beyond the traditional classroom that promote deeper levels of engagement and knowledge. Such experiences also establish strong partnerships between the school district and our community businesses and organizations. LZHS students in grades 10-12 are invited to apply for internships (paid and unpaid) to gain authentic, real-world experiences.
Click on the High School Roadmap button below to visit the Canvas page and then click the "Explore a Career" link where you will find a list of available internships in a variety of career fields. Parents, don't have a Canvas account? Click on the button below, then click on the "Parent of a Canvas User" link.
Pre-College Career Internship Program
This opportunity is a fantastic way for local businesses to connect with motivated students while shaping the future of our community’s workforce. Below is an overview of what the District 95 internships entail and why companies should consider supporting a LZHS student.
What is an Internship?
A District 95 internship is a career- exploration opportunity that allows students to work/ job shadow at a local company to gain real-world experience before graduating.
Benefits of hosting an intern:
Hosting a student is more than a mentorship; it provides tangible value to your organization:
Provides Fresh Perspectives: Students bring new ideas and innovative way of thinking to your projects.
Increased Capacity: You can delegate tasks that might be outside your current team’s immediate scope or skillset.
Recruitment: It allows you to “Spot future hires” by identifying promising individuals for future full-time roles.
Productivity: Interns can boost team output and foster a supportive work environment.
Community Impact: Your company is directly investing in local youth and helping build the future workforce of our community.
