Important Reminders for All Students

5/15/26

Dear LZHS Students and Parents,

In recent days, we have seen some students bringing water guns, gel blasters, and similar items onto school grounds. This message is a reminder that students are not permitted to bring look-alike weapons or other items/toys designed to simulate weapons to school or onto school grounds. This includes items such as replica firearms, water guns, gel blasters, water bead blasters, toy guns, realistic imitation weapons, or any object that could reasonably be mistaken for a real weapon.

Possession of these items on campus is a violation of Board Policy 7:190 – Student Behavior. Even if the item is not intended to cause harm or is not a functioning weapon, it can create significant safety concerns, disrupt the learning environment, and require immediate response from school staff and law enforcement.

Our top priority is maintaining a safe and secure environment for all students and staff. Any student found in possession of a look-alike weapon or who is engaging in any other misconduct on school grounds involving any of the above-referenced items will be subject to school disciplinary consequences and possible involvement of local law enforcement.

We ask all families to help reinforce this expectation by speaking with students about the seriousness of this issue and ensuring that these items remain at home.

Thank you for your partnership in keeping our school safe.

Sincerely,

Dr. John Walsh
Principal
