Welcome to your last year of high school! I am letting you know of a couple of college-related programs that will be happening in the next couple of weeks. College visits are starting again, so expect an e-mail from me soon. I will also be sending out information on college applications and the process here at LZ.
On Monday, August 21, we have our College Kick-Off for Seniors and their parents. It is at 7 pm in the PAC. This will also be streamed live and recorded at https://livestream.com/accounts/23583809/events/10934197. We welcome back Julie Nelson, a 30-year veteran college admission representative, to speak on the college application process. She will speak about essays, communication, getting to know your college rep, and much more. This presentation is great to get you and your parents excited about this important process.
On Monday, August 28, I will give the parents a chance to ask their questions at our Senior Parent Night. Students can attend as well! With a new system, SchooLinks, this year, I am sure you have some questions. I am a huge advocate of the students doing all the work on their college applications. I also know that parents have questions outside of the actual application process. Please bring your questions to ask at Senior Parent Night. I will have a presentation on the application process, but I would rather have Q & A the whole time. Office Hours- I will host some sessions addressing college applications starting the week of the 21st. Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday will be the days I can meet with you. I will be sending a message to the seniors through SchooLinks about the topics I will cover. As soon as the parents’ contacts get loaded into SchooLinks all of my communications will come through that system.
Students will also be invited to a meeting to meet individually with your counselor starting in September during some open period in your day. Be on the lookout for that e-mail.
