Resources Available for Students and Families

8/5/25

Dear Lake Zurich High School Parents/Guardians, Students, and Staff,

In all schools in District 95, we have a designated person who can serve as a resource for students who are expectant parents and/or who have been victims of domestic or sexual violence. At LZHS, this staff member is Amanda Morgan - who can be contacted at amanda.morgan@lz95.org or 847-540-4350. Families can find more information related to supports available to students in these groups by referencing Board Policy 7:255 - Students Who are Parents, Expectant Parents, or Victims of Domestic or Sexual Violence (all Board policies can be found HERE).

Additionally, LZHS has a number of staff members available to provide our students with social-emotional support as needed during the school day; contact information for our building counselors, social workers, and psychologists can be found HERE. These staff members are also equipped to share information with families regarding community-based mental health resources and services (families interested in accessing our community referral list can do so by clicking the link HERE).  Additional resources for supporting overall student emotional needs can be found HERE.

Lastly, Board Policy 7:250 - Student Support Services outlines counseling and other support services available to all students in District 95. Specific to students ages 12 and above, recent legislative changes require notification to all students in this age group that they may access counseling services in school without parent/guardian consent in the school setting, in accordance with the Mental Health and Developmental Disabilities Code and in alignment with the Children’s Mental Health Act.

We look forward to providing a wide range of supports to all students in the school year ahead, but wanted to draw particular attention to these two areas of support.

Sincerely,

John L. Walsh
Lake Zurich High School Principal
