Student Parking

Limited automobile parking for students is provided as a convenience. Parking is a privilege, not a right. Lake Zurich High School will only issue parking permits to all seniors and to juniors selected in a lottery as spots are available. Freshmen and sophomores DO NOT have permission to park on campus.

Lake Zurich CUSD 95 and Lake Zurich High School are not responsible for the automobile or its contents, parking is at your own risk. Cars should be locked at all times. Students are only allowed to park in their assigned parking spot. The protocols below outline steps students should take if another student is parked in their spot. Students should NOT park in another student's parking spot if their spot is not available.

Parking Registration & Fee

Parking applications will be emailed out to all seniors and juniors by April 30th each year. Students need to have a zero balance for all fees and obligations in order to request parking.

Parking Fee is $330. Payment may be paid in PushCoin prior to picking up your permit. All current school year and any prior years' fees and charges owed to the school district must be paid in full prior to the last Friday in July to receive your parking permit during material distribution in early August.

Protocols

Parking permits are non-transferable (i.e. CANNOT be sold to another student). The student who is issued the permit must be the driver of the vehicle.
Placards must be hung from the rearview mirror as designed to the registered vehicle. If the placard is not displayed on the vehicle, the vehicle will be considered parked unauthorized and subject to being ticketed.
It is the student's responsibility to notify the Deans' office if a different car is being driven or if car information changes. Please follow the steps below if someone is parked in your spot:
1. Call the Dean’s Office at 847-540-4108.
2. State your name, parking spot number and the license plate of the car parked in their assigned spot; students may leave a voicemail if there is no answer.
3. Students will be told where to park. If no one answers in the Dean’s Office, park in a visitors spot and notify security at the security desk by Door #29.
4. Once your space is free, you will receive a pass from the Dean’s Office to move your car back to your assigned spot.
Parking is strictly limited to the student parking areas. Students are not allowed to park in non-assigned spots (i.e. faculty, visitor, substitute or other reserved spaces). Students who are parked illegally are subject to being ticketed.
All students must be licensed and vehicles insured.
For the safety of our students, the following is a non-exhaustive list of factors that may result in the suspension/loss of parking privileges without refund: speeding, reckless driving, improper vehicle operation, at fault for an accident etc.
Violation of truancy, tardy, off campus, exiting/entering unauthorized doors and/or any other discipline policy as designated by the Deans may result in suspension/loss of parking privilege without refund.
Lake Zurich High School is not responsible for damage or theft while vehicles are on school grounds.
Any vehicle displaying a permit entering school grounds is subject to search by school authorities and law enforcement personnel working with them.
Violations are subject to the vehicle being ticketed and/or loss of parking privileges with no refund.
The school reserves the right to revoke a student's parking privilege with no refund if the student is off-campus when not authorized.
Students are not allowed to "lend or share" their spot with another student.

How many spots are available?

We have around 460 spots to sell on the LZHS Campus.

How many students apply?

In past years, we have had over 600 seniors and juniors apply. Seniors in good standing who apply are given priority, then juniors are put into a lottery for the remaining spots. We typically have around 150 juniors who we do not have spots for and are put on the waitlist.

Why does the parking lot look empty when I drive by?

Upperclassmen are allowed off campus during their lunch and open periods. Students may be off campus during these times leaving their spots open temporarily. In addition, on any given day we have some students who are out sick, on vacation, medical appointments, etc. All available spots are sold.

My student is in sports or after school activities so he/she needs a spot.

We get calls from students in sports (because they have equipment or early/late practice), band (because they carry heavy instruments), newspaper or play (because they stay late into the night), students who have to leave for an after school job, etc. Almost every student has a reason why they should get a spot.

If your student has a valid medical need which requires a parking permit, please have medical documentation and work through their counselor. Some doctors will issue a handicap sticker to your student, if needed, allowing your student to park in a handicap spot. Students with a handicap tag must still have a LZHS parking permit.

Do you have any temporary parking spots? My student is injured/my student is sick/I am out of town/etc.?

Unfortunately, we do not reserve any temporary spots. We recommend the student take the bus (which will drop them off at the school door), drive with a friend, or get a ride from a family member.

If my student doesn’t get a spot during the first lottery, is there a possibility that some spots may open in fall?

Students who do not pay for their parking permit by the date listed on the application will forfeit their spot. At that time, we will re-run the lottery and we will contact students (and their parents/guardians) who applied, but did not receive a spot to see if they are still interested. You do not need to do anything to apply for these spots. Students who apply in Spring, but do not get a spot will automatically be placed in the lottery for any spots that open in fall or winter. Again, seniors in good standing who apply will be given priority.

Can I park in the Knigge Lot or St. Peter Church if I don’t get a spot at LZHS?

LZHS does not run those lots. If you'd like to explore off campus options, here is the information for that:
